NHL Announces Finalists for the 2024 Ted Lindsay Award

Awarded annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by the NHLPA

The esteemed award will be given to one of three finalists: Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, or Nikita Kucherov

TORONTO, May 8, 2024 - The National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) announced today the three finalists for the 2024 Ted Lindsay Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by the NHLPA membership.

The finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award are:

  • Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
  • Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning

Matthews, a three-time All-Star and Maurice Richard Trophy winner, led the NHL in goals this season with 60. He also ranked among the league leaders in points (first with 123), assists (second with 63), and shots on goal (first with 368).

MacKinnon, a four-time All-Star and Hart Trophy winner, led the Avalanche to the Presidents' Trophy with 119 points. He ranked among the league leaders in points (second with 122), goals (fourth with 50), assists (third with 72), and power-play goals (tied for second with 16).

Kucherov, an eight-time All-Star and Art Ross Trophy winner, led the Lightning to the Eastern Conference championship. He ranked among the league leaders in points (third with 119), assists (first with 87), and power-play points (first with 41).

The Ted Lindsay Award was renamed in 2010 after Ted Lindsay, who played 17 seasons in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, and Los Angeles Kings.

The winner of the Ted Lindsay Award will be announced during the NHL Awards ceremony on June 21, 2024.
