Bradley-Bourbonnais Big Man Nick Allen Commits to Illinois State

6-foot-9 forward will play Division I basketball just 45 minutes from home

Bradley-Bourbonnais senior Nick Allen is the second member of the Boilermakers’ record-setting basketball team to commit to a Division I school, as the 6-foot-9 forward announced his pledge to Illinois State on Friday.

Allen announced his decision via Twitter, choosing the Redbirds over offers from Bradley, Illinois, Northern Illinois and Saint Louis.

• “I’m excited to announce that I have committed to further my academic and basketball career at Illinois State University!” Allen wrote. “I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates and friends for supporting me along the way. I can’t wait to get to work with Coach [Ryan] Pedon and the Redbird family. Go Redbirds!”

A four-year varsity player, Allen averaged 12.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game as a senior, helping Bradley-Bourbonnais go 31-3 and win its first-ever sectional title.

Allen is the second Bradley-Bourbonnais player from the 2022-23 team to commit to a Division I school, joining guard Darrion Baker, who committed to UIC in August.
