Blue Jays Leo Jimenez Tending To Sore Foot

Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Tending to sore foot

Jimenez injured his foot on a foul ball

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Leo Jimenez is dealing with a sore foot after being hit by a foul ball during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

Jimenez was behind the plate when Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh hit a foul ball that struck Jimenez on the top of his left foot.

Jimenez immediately fell to the ground in pain and had to be helped off the field by Blue Jays trainers.

Jimenez is day-to-day

The Blue Jays announced on Wednesday that Jimenez is day-to-day with a left foot contusion.

The team said that Jimenez is receiving treatment and will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

It is unclear if Jimenez will be able to play in the Blue Jays' next game on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Gimenez has been a key contributor for the Blue Jays

Jimenez has been a key contributor for the Blue Jays this season, both offensively and defensively.

He is hitting .286 with 7 home runs and 30 RBIs in 83 games.

He has also thrown out 10 of 33 attempted basestealers (30.3%).

Blue Jays have depth at catcher

The Blue Jays have some depth at catcher, so they can afford to be patient with Jimenez's injury.

Danny Jansen is the Blue Jays' starting catcher, but Gabriel Moreno and Reese McGuire are also capable of playing the position.

Moreno is considered one of the top catching prospects in baseball, and he has impressed in his limited time in the majors this season.
