Louisville football great Harry Douglas fulfilling dream of seeing jersey number honored

Former wide receiver's No. 8 to be retired in pregame ceremony

Harry Douglas, one of the most decorated wide receivers in Louisville football history, will see his No. 8 jersey retired in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 16, when the Cardinals host Florida State at Cardinal Stadium.

Douglas, a two-time All-American and the school's all-time leader in receptions (271) and receiving yards (3,513), was a key member of the Cardinals' 2006 Orange Bowl championship team.

He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft and played 10 seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets.

'It's a dream come true'

"It's a dream come true," Douglas said. "I never thought I'd see my jersey retired. It's an honor and a privilege, and I'm so grateful to the University of Louisville for this honor.

Douglas' jersey will be the 11th to be retired by Louisville football, joining the likes of Johnny Unitas, Howard Schnellenberger, and Lamar Jackson.

The pregame ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET, and the game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
