Women and Girls: Drop In, Throw TDs

Title IX at 50, Passes Reflect Progress

Fifty years ago, Title IX became a law, saying schools had to give equal opportunities to women in sports. Since then, there's been a lot of progress.

In the past 50 years, the number of girls playing high school sports has tripled. There are now more women coaching women's teams than ever before. And women are making great strides in professional sports.

But there's still more work to be done.

Why Are All-Girls Sports Teams Important?

Girls who play sports are more likely to be physically active throughout their lives. They're also more likely to have higher self-esteem and body image. And they're more likely to do well in school.

How To Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved in Title IX sports. You can join a school team or a community league. You can also volunteer your time to help out with a team.

If you're a girl who wants to play sports, don't be afraid to speak up. You have the right to participate in sports, and there are people who want to help you make that happen.
